What is Hybrid Coaching:

 Hybrid Coaching combines in-person and online coaching.  Rather than seeing a coach once or multiple times per week in-person, the hybrid model allows more flexibility for the individual.  They may see the coach once or twice at the beginning and then have in-person follow-up session’s perhaps every 4-6 weeks or at the end of each training block.  The Hybrid model allows the individual to access their program online, typically via an app and have check in’s and support online in between in-person sessions.

 

Hybrid V Online Only

 Whilst there are many free resources on exercise training and online only coaching also available, there are extra benefits for you utilising the hybrid model:

 ·      Physical assessment: This can include a movement screen, joint mobility and flexibility and relevant fitness or functional tests.  This ensures a baseline is established and any training program ensures you have the orthopaedic profile to perform the requirements of the training program.

·      Manages the benefit to risk of training and exercise selection.

·      Allows for the program to be personalised to you, including corrective exercises and tailored to your fitness level whilst moving you towards your goals.

·      Opportunity for in-person exercise rehabilitation techniques such as mobilisations, and muscle activations.

·      Ensures exercise form can be assessed and any modifications delivered.

·      Extra motivation and support to ensure the correct intensity is applied.

·      Opportunity for follow-up sessions and physical re-assessments to ensure the next training phase is carefully programmed bespoke to the individual needs.

It is a lot harder to receive these added benefits to the same customised level when accessing free resources or the online only model of training.

 ·      Accessibility to training resources anytime, anywhere. Training program can be accessed via an app including video and instructions.

·      The training program can be written for those who want to train at home or in a gym or a combination of both.

·      Full weekly and periodised training schedule mapped out accessed online.

·      Cost Efficiency – For those who cannot afford regular in-person coaching sessions, they can still get a fully customised coaching experience which is more affordable than regular in-person sessions.

·      Goal-setting and Monitoring – Establishing goals with the ability to log progress online.

·      Enhanced Accountability – Regular Check-Ins and online communication for question or support.

 

Hybrid Coaching allows the individual to adopt a training plan that can fit around their own lifestyle balancing work and family life whilst knowing they have access to fully customised training plan to achieve their goals that is unique to their individual needs.  It is also more time effective as it reduces the number of in-person coaching session required.

 It is important that the following principles are applied when undertaking a new exercise training program with progressions that are appropriate for the individual based on their needs, goals and physical demands of their activity:

 Whilst generic exercise templates and free resources are great at helping people to get moving, they can run the risk of enhancing injury potential because they don’t have a baseline of an individual’s biomechanical status.

It is important to ensure you have the mobility, stability, and strength to perform the exercises that you do, or if you don’t you know how to modify exercises and intervention strategies to improve physical function. Another benefit is you have the freedom to book ad-hoc in-person sessions if you feel you need extra support with form, motivation or can afford extra in-person support.
